Law Meets Engineering series

Concordia University Jurist-in-Residence, Morton S. Minc cordially invites you to an evening in conversation with Me Vanessa Henri.

Whether it’s because of deepfakes, ransomware, or managing a public health crisis, we all learned to speak “data” in the last few years.

In law firms, data governance has emerged as a popular discussion with clients largely due to the use of data-hungry predictive algorithms in technological developments, which brought data acquisition into the scope of intellectual property audits, such as prior for a merger and acquisition.

More than privacy, but without clear legal parameters, data governance is often discussed, but rarely understood.

In this conference, our guest speaker, Me Vanessa Henri, will answer key questions in relation to data governance, covering some of the most fascinating applied legal challenges regarding data as corporate assets:

  • What is data governance, and how it differs from privacy
  • Who’s who in data governance structures
  • Why is data governance important
  • How interdisciplinarity can inform the socialization of data governance principles
  • Which legal designs are leveraged to engineer complex data flows

Students, faculty members ans staff in the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, lawyers, and the general public are invited to attend.

Advance registration on Eventbrite is mandatory.

To participating lawyers: The eligibility of this training has been confirmed by the Barreau du Québec for the purposes of mandatory continuing education, for a period of one (1.0) hour.
