Concordia's Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics, and the Azrieli Institute are hosting a catered speaker event at the Conference Center, on the 9th floor of the John Molson Building (MB).

This event is co-sponsored by the German Consulate of Montreal.

About the speaker:

Charlotte Schallié is chair of the Germanic and Slavic Department at the University of Victoria. She is the editor of But I Live — an award-winning graphic novel telling the stories of child Holocaust survivors. A holocaust historian, Charlotte Schallié is project lead of the UVic-based Narrative Art and Visual Storytelling in Holocaust and Human Rights Education.

Schaillé will speak to the role of the visual arts in Holocaust education, the importance of survivor-centred storytelling practices and trauma-informed approaches to ethical testimony collection, as well as the urgency of preserving survivor experiences.
