Home to a dynamic community of faculty, staff, students and alumni, we bridge the natural and social sciences to take on such urgent issues as climate change, urban densification, loss of biodiversity and more.
Who we are
The department of Geography, Planning and Environment (GPE) is one of only two at Concordia University currently engaged in research, teaching and graduate training in both the natural sciences and social sciences.
This unique hybrid of disciplines is reflected in the range and diversity of expertise amongst our 20 full-time faculty members – who have training in human and physical geography; urban studies and planning, and in the environmental sciences – plus in the array of the programs and courses offered.

All the knowlege in the world won't get you far without practical skills to back it up. That's why we offer skill-based programs that focus on teaching hands-on techniques and building practical skills in such areas as cartography, computer design, geographic information systems and field work.
