Conferences
The Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability hosts and co-hosts conferences every year. These knowledge-sharing events provide students with opportunities to further their learning and present their work.

Putting our values into action
At each of our Sustainable-certified events, we strive to make our events accessible, sustainable, equitable, diverse and inclusive. Discover the concrete ways that we put these values into action at our events.
For any questions about the College's conference organization practices, get in touch with Rebecca Tittler: rebecca.tittler@concordia.ca
- We invite all participants to reduce their streaming quality and turn off their cameras while not presenting or interacting.
- In email interactions about the conference, we remind people to delete emails that are no longer necessary.
- We encourage our caterers to use local and seasonal produce
- We ensure that the vast majority of our food is vegan or vegetarian
- We provide water jugs rather than bottled drinks
- We ensure that tea, coffee and sugar are Fair Trade
- We provide a bulk vegan "milk" alternative such as oat milk
- We use minimal packing and serve condiments in bulk: milk, sugar, honey, oat milk
- We use real dishes rather than one-use, disposable dishes
- We choose gifts for our speakers from an Indigenous-owned supplier with eco-responsible packaging such as Sequoia Soaps.
- Our conferences celebrate and feature Indigenous voices.
- All Indigenous speakers and panelists are being compensated as per the Indigenous Elder and Community Protocol.
- We continue to abide by the recommendations on the territorial acknowledgment.
- We assure that our events do not conflict with any ongoing Indigenous events at Concordia.
- Participants are asked to flag any particular accomodation needs (including childcare needs) when they register.
- Presenters are asked to use legible, 32-pt font (at least) on all slides such as Verdana, Helvetica, and Arial.
- We follow accessibility guidelines on our webpages.
- All events and recordings are free and open to the public.
- Facilitators, moderators, and hosts are informed and encouraged to use accessible and anti-oppressive facilitation styles.
- We establish a code of conduct posted on the conference website and in every event posting.

- All events hosted in 4TH SPACE are recorded and made available on the conference website.
