Work permits for international students

If you’re an international student planning to do co-op internships during your studies in Canada, the co-op work permit is essential in order to gain the valuable Canadian work experience your program offers.

Things to know:

  • Apply for your co-op work permit as soon as you receive your letter of support from the Institute. Processing times can be very lengthy, so it is essential to apply as early as possible.
  • Once you receive your permit, upload it to Compass right away.
  • If you don’t have your work permit uploaded by the time internship postings open, you won’t be able to apply.
