Concordia offers students many community-based experiential learning opportunities: from semester-long internships with community organizations, to course-integrated volunteer opportunities, to place-based assignments that draw on local knowledge.

Concordia Dans La Rue / DART 481 Design Outreach Course

Concordia Dans La Rue is an educational outreach collaboration between Associate Professor pk langshaw and Dans la rue, an organization which serves youth on the street. Faculty Lecturer Israel Dupuis is the instructor of the DART 481 course, which includes this project and reflects the Department of Design’s emphasis on creating links with Montreal communities via student internships, collaborative projects, and public artworks.

MBA Community Service Initiative

The Community Service Initiative at the John Molson School of Business develops and coordinates opportunities for collaboration and community engagement. Graduate students, faculty and staff, and community agencies build partnerships aimed at learning from each other while working together for the benefit of society.

Sustainable Internship Program

The Sustainable Internship Program, developed by the David O’Brien Centre for Sustainable Enterprise and the John Molson School of Business Career Management Service, provides valuable experience to students. Participants at the undergraduate and graduate level benefit from exposure to practices related to sustainability, ethics, diversity, social economy, socio-economic development, and other issues to cultivate a sense of social corporate responsibility related to sustainable business practices.

The Neighbourhood Theatre project

The Neighbourhood Theatre project is inspired by oral historians, activists, and artists and helps create local theatre and web-based digital stories. Neighbourhood residents, businesses, groups, and social organizations in Montreal collaborate on storytelling projects performed in a variety of local spaces.
