Workshops
Concordia Library runs various workshops to help students and faculty gain new skills in and knowledge about research data management.
Research data management and the Tri-Agency RDM policy (2021)
Workshop for Concordia faculty, prepared for the Office of Research. It briefly described the Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy and provides an overview of Data Management Plans and data repositories.
Research data management in the social sciences (2021)
Workshop prepared for faculty and graduate students in the sociology and anthropology department. The workshop addressed the following topics: (1) Tri-Agency draft policy on research data management (specifically data sharing requirements); (2) Organizing data during the active phase of research; (3) Securing data (including getting the proper consent); (4) Documenting data (to make it reusable by the researcher and others in the future); (5) Deposit data for sharing – where and how?
How to prepare your data for publication (2021)
Workshop for graduate students. Some publishers now require that data supporting published research be made publicly available at the time of publication. On top of increasing the impact of your research, sharing data promotes transparency, reproducibility and progress. This workshop provided essential tips on preparing data for publication and choosing the best place to share the data.
Choosing a data repository (2020)
Slides | Video (in French from Spring 2020)

The session aimed to teach participants how to (1) Identify the different reasons why researchers would deposit their data; (2) Recognize the different types of repositories and their characteristics; (3) Identify the criteria for selecting appropriate data repositories; (4) Use different tools to find repositories; (5) Understand the basics of two Canadian data repositories (Dataverse & FRDR).
