It’s time to prioritize sustainable finance.

Part of owning, leading or managing a business is being aware of the impact that all areas of the organization have on the environment – including financial practices. What are ESG concepts and how do you use them to improve your business’ finance and investing practices? In 13 sessions, gain a broad and well-rounded insight into the expanding world of sustainability.


The Sustainable Corporate Professional Certification is designed to teach the basics about, and encourage the advancement of, sustainable finance. Throughout the course, the underlying environment, social and governance (ESG) principles will be explored in a financial context. You will understand how Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) contribute to challenges for corporations, the transition risks and opportunities for businesses, and the transformation of finance into a vehicle for the betterment of society and the environment. You will have the opportunity to apply academic material to practical, real-life situations in sessions taught by real industry experts with years of knowledge and experience to share.

Sustainability Expert

Stephen has over thirty years of experience as an investment professional. Though now retired, he worked for 21 years at the Caisse Depot et Placement du Quebec as analyst, portfolio manager, business unit risk manager, and more recently as a vice-president in the Investment Stewardship group. During his career he also held the position of vice-president of Canadian equities during his ten years at Bimcor (Bell Canada pension fund affiliate). He currently does consulting work with both the SAIFI Learning Center and Millani Consultants in Montreal.

Stephen has for many years been at the forefront of responsible investment through his involvement with the creation of the Sustainable Investment Professional Certificate at Concordia University. He currently lectures at the Goodman Institute on risk management and teaches Sustainability at McGill and Queen’s Universities. He has a seat on the Investment Committee and Risk Subcommittee of the McConnell Foundation in Montreal.
