Elective courses open to all students

All students are required to do elective credits — courses that are not a part of your program of study. The courses listed here are open to non-Gina Cody students.

Course prerequisites
You cannot register for a course if you haven’t completed its prerequisite. If a course requires "Departmental permission," you must get approval from the relevant department before registering.

Course entry restrictions
Many Gina Cody School courses reserve seats for students in specific programs and may not be open to others as electives. Check the course schedule and click on the section to view seat availability.

Students cannot receive credits for both of the following:

  • BLDG 212 and CIVI 212
  • COMP 228 and SOEN 228
  • COEN 231 and COMP 232
  • COEN 243 and COMP 248
  • COEN 243 and MECH 215
  • COMP 248 and MIAE 215
