This blog, along with our Facebook and Twitter pages, is dedicated to providing helpful online resources for academic skill building and professional development. These are the websites and blogs we visit regularly to find the links we share with all of you - Concordia’s graduate student community.

Thesis Whisperer -  A blog dedicated to the topic of doing a thesis. With contributors from around the world, the wide-ranging blog is edited by Dr Inger Mewburn, Director of research training at the Australian National University. We *love* this site.

GradHacker - A collaborative blog written by graduate students from a variety of universities, departments, and stages in their careers and for the entire range of graduate and professional students. You’ll find stories, tips, and challenges of others who are experiencing the same things, posts spanning categories like professional tasks, reviews of software/hardware, pedagogical challenges and solutions, wellness related topics, family and personal issues, and productivity.

DoctoralWritingSIG - A forum where people who are interested in doctoral writing can come together to share information, resources, ideas, dreams in a spirit of building knowledge and skills around higher degree research writing.

Research Whisperer - Dedicated to the topic of doing research in academia. They write about finding funding, research culture, and building academic track-records.

Versatile PhD - The oldest, largest online community dedicated to non-academic and non-faculty careers for PhDs in humanities, social science and STEM, with over 50,000 members/contributors.

Inside Higher Ed - An online source for news, opinion and jobs for all of higher education - breaking news and feature stories, provocative daily commentary, areas for comment on every article, practical career columns, and a powerful suite of tools to help higher education professionals get jobs and colleges identify and hire employees.

University Affairs Career Advice - Provides practical advice and tools to help your career, with the largest source of career ads for people seeking academic positions in Canada. The other sections of the website focus on breaking news, provocative commentary, and in-depth articles about university trends.

The Chronicle Of Higher Education - A top destination for daily news and advice columns; thousands of current job listings; an archive of previously published content; vibrant discussion forums; and career-building tools such as online CV management, salary databases, and more.

The Muse - Offers advice, and a peek behind the scenes into fantastic companies and career paths. Their Resources and Career Advice section is where we pull a lot of links from, with useful posts like this one we refer to all the time - 99 Sites That Every Professional Should Know About and Use.
