Standing Committee Update – November 15, 2018
The standing committee has been working to ensure the requirements of Bill 151 are addressed in Concordia’s current policy regarding sexual violence. Discussions have focused on making the policy language more accessible to the Concordia community and for survivors/victims.
Please contact the committee with any questions or suggestions on the proposed new version of the policy: standing-cmt.smsv@concordia.ca.
The committee has also held discussions on the following topics:
- October 26 – Third parties, penalties & reprisals/ definitions
- November 2 – Training, education, communications
- November 9 – Faculty, staff and student relationships guidelines
Further, the Training and Education Sub-Committee met on October 31 and November 8 to discuss training, education and awareness activities at Concordia.
Community conversations
The standing committee hosted two community conversations with Concordia students, staff and faculty on November 5 (SGW campus) and 7 (Loyola). This was an opportunity for the Concordia community to ask questions and provide their feedback on the work of the standing committee.
Two more community conversations will take place:
- Wednesday, December 5 from 9 to 10 a.m., Room GM-200, Guy-De Maisonneuve Building (GM), 1550 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W. Sir George Williams Campus
- Monday, December 10 from 9 to 10 a.m., Room AD-230, Administration (AD) Building, 7141 Sherbrooke St. W. Loyola Campus
Meeting with other post-secondary institutions
On November 6, Concordia invited post-secondary institutions from the greater Montreal region to for a half-day information sharing session. The result was a fruitful exchange and a commitment to share resources where possible. The following institutions participated:
