Message from the Vice-Provost, Innovation in Teaching and Learning

For many of us, Monday felt like the first day of a new semester. Quickly adapting to teaching and learning online course content while navigating a global pandemic was no small feat.

With that being said, I’m very pleased to report that as of today, 1,300 faculty have participated in our daily Zoom webinar training sessions. And, Instructional and Information Technology Services have already received a total of 2,830 help tickets — some of which have been resolved in as little as four hours.

I’m incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work of everyone who made this training possible and of faculty who dove into the world of online teaching for the first time to see students complete the semester as planned.

In other good news, online proctoring and online exams are in the final stages of planning. In the coming days procedures and policies will be announced — including where faculty should send exams. If you are a faculty member and planning to run online exams with proctoring, you will be provided with next steps very shortly.

If you are a faculty member seeking assistance with revising assessments, including how to write successful take-home exams, we have online resources available to help.

Faculty may also join a daily webinar training session on using Zoom. For individual questions or appointments, you may write to help@concordia.ca.

In order to help address student concerns, I encourage faculty to clarify and remind students when and where online courses are being conducted and when assignments are due.

Let’s keep up the great work and momentum to see students finish the semester on time.

Congratulations on a successful first day!

Sandra Gabriele,
Vice-Provost, Innovation in Teaching & Learning
