Public safety advisory: reports of women being harassed in downtown Montreal

April 1, 2019
|

A few days ago, it was brought to Concordia’s attention that several women had recently been approached in publicly accessible spaces on campus by strangers. Those approached say they felt uncomfortable and even harassed.

Since then, reports have emerged of similar incidents at other locations in downtown Montreal.

Concordia has taken several measures to respond, including liaising with the Montreal police. In addition, the university has increased security at the Sir George Williams Campus and asked agents to be especially vigilant in light of these latest reports.

Concordia is also in touch with colleagues at McGill University and the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) to ensure a coordinated response.
