Update: Concordia Athletics Summer Camp has announced an additional week of Multisport camp from August 24 to 28. The registration will open on August 6 and close on August 18. Register now; spaces are limited (60 spots).

Got a tot with too much energy? You're in luck: there are still spots left in the Concordia Athletics Sports Camps.

This week's camp (August 3 to 7) has a multisport theme — it includes basketball, rugby, soccer, volleyball, badminton, flag football and lacrosse. The last two weekly sessions (August 10 to 14 and August 17 to 21) of the summer are devoted to hockey.

Since opening day on July 6, the camps have welcomed an average of 85 girls and boys between the ages of six and 15 per session. The secret to this success?

A staff of 14 dedicated Concordia varsity athletes with big hearts and valuable experience on the playing field. Plus, the camps were revitalized this summer, with a renewed emphasis on professional coaching, administration and communications.

"We upped our game and added a nutritional component this year," says camp coordinator Krzysztof Kmiecik (BA 2014).

Through community outreach, he secured sponsors for the camp, including Dole Canada and Bercy Foods, who donate organic fruit and vegetables twice a week.

"On Mondays and Wednesdays, we talk about nutrition and make health smoothies," Kmiecik says. "The kids love them, even the spinach, and are asking for smoothies at home."

The camps run on Mondays through Fridays on the Loyola Campus. The multisport sessions are open to all skills levels; hockey is the exception, as it requires campers to be at least 10 years old, with experience playing an organized version of the sport.

To register for Concordia Athletics Sports Camps, see the details below
