Got the winter blahs? The Green Space will boost your mood, and it’s hiding in plain sight right beside the escalator on the mezzanine of the Henry F. Hall Building.

Now in its second term, the brightly decorated area is an exclusive venue for sustainability-related events, such as the weekly Farmers’ Market, which is guaranteed to lift your spirits — science says so! Really — studies have proven that proximity to nature and vegetation can reduce depression and anxiety. You can check out the Farmers’ Market every Wednesday afternoon until April 22 30.

Also coming up is a cool series of workshops for non-engineers during Engineering Week. Offered by Engineers Without Borders in collaboration with Sustainable Engineering Concordia, the week-long choose-your-own-adventure-style series challenges non-engineer participants to dream up solutions to a particular issue or problem.

Themes include:

  • Environmental sustainability and engineering
  • The intersection of sustainable international development and technology
  • What is an engineer's role in sustainable transport systems?
  • Psychology and technology

Based on how the problem is solved, participants are then shown how their solution would have fared in practice. Organizers insist this problem-solving event is not just for engineers. Stop by and participate the week of March 16.

Why not host your own sustainability-related event at the Green Space? It’s in a central location and free of charge, including the AV support.
