Wahab Hamou-Lhadj, Associate Professor and the Undergraduate Curriculum Director in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, leads research focused on techniques and tools which leverage machine data to improve software development and operations. In particular, he seeks solutions that can be easily applied to industry.

He and his team have been working with video game publisher Ubisoft to develop and implement an artificial intelligence system which automatically identifies coding defects as programmers write them, saving an enormous amount of time and money. This cutting edge initiative reached a wide variety of audiences through prominent reporting in Wired Magazine, The Globe and Mail, the Financial Post, L’actualité and more.
