Students
Current students at Concordia do outstanding academic work and get involved in community projects that improve our quality of life. See what they've been up to:
- Concordia student Dunia Al Mehlm is quoted in an article in the Montreal Gazette about Syrians in Montreal welcoming news of the recent U.S. airstrikes in their native country. The report says Al Melhm, who arrived in Montreal last December on a Concordia scholarship, also sees hope in the news but wonders about president Donald Trump’s motivations.
- Nation Talk picks up the English version of an earlier release from AVEQ (Association for the Voice of Education in Québec). It includes a statement and a link to an open letter to the Quebec government in which the student group calls for a survivor-centric response by the province to sexual violence. The release quotes CSU sustainability coordinator Lana Gailbraith and Concordia Centre for Gender Advocacy action coordinator Stacey Gomez.
- Le Quotidien de Chicoutimi reports that Stingers women's hockey player Sophie Gagnon will play for Canada at the 2017 World Deaf Ice Hockey Championships, later this month in Amherst, New York.
