Water infrastructure management

The City of Montreal is dealing with a rash of water main breakages that have left streets and residences flooded in the past few days. The age of Montreal's infrastructure is a significant issue. But how effective are the methods used to maintain and upgrade our infrastructure and how well is the city responding and rebuilding after a failure?  Mazdak Nik-Bakht, an assistant professor in the Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering can address these questions. Tarek Zayed, also an assitant professor in this department, can provide perspective on infrastructure management.
