Michel Magnan joins UN corporate reporting group

Team to meet for the first time this June in Geneva

Michel Magnan, from the Department of Accountancy at the John Molson School of Business has been invited by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development to join a consultative group of experts from around the world in developing a guiding materials for monitoring, compliance and enforcement (MC&E) for high quality and internationally comparable corporate reporting.

The group’s objective is to assist national policy makers, regulators and other stakeholders in their efforts to build and strengthen regulatory, institutional and human capacity for an efficient MC&E system in the area of accounting and reporting. This is seen as a critical element for financial stability and sustainable development.

“This is excellent news,” says JMSB Dean Steve Harvey. “We are proud to have Michel as a faculty member at JMSB and delighted that his expertise in the area of corporate reporting is being recognized at the international level.”

The group will meet for the first time this June in Geneva with the aim of producing a guiding document by November when it will be presented at the 32nd session of the Intergovernmental Expert Group of Standards on Accounting and Reporting (ISAR).
