New Times, 9th June 2016 “CNLG blasts Dutch lawyer over Genocide remarks” by James Karuhanga

  • The National Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) has condemned a Dutch lawyer, Caroline Buisman, who said that “the government of Rwanda uses the 1994 Genocide commemorations for its political agenda and is a manipulation.”
  • Dr. Jean-Damascène Bizimana, the CNLG executive secretary said that those are the kinds of remarks made, every year, by Genocide deniers and revisionists.
  • Caroline Buisman made the comments during an extradition hearing in the Hague court where she acts as legal counsel or Jean Claude Iyamuremye, a man accused of genocide and crimes against humanity.
  • According to the Rwandan embassy in the Netherlands, Buisman used the platform as a revenge ground because she was last month asked to leave Rwandan territory after she entered the country on tourist visa yet she visited Victoire Ingabire in the prison as her lawyer.
