1. Maï-Maï rebels in Opala

  • FARDC soldiers are withdrawn from the Rwanda to hunt down the FDLR in Rutshuru, North Kivu.
  • Since January 31, there has been an increase in clashes between civilians and the Maï-Maï, leading to 3 deaths. 
2. Increase of FARDC in North Kivu, security is volatile

  • Lt. Mak Hazukay announced 8 February, the deployment of FARDC military reinforcements in southern Lubero (North Kivu).
  • The decision is in hopes to neutralize and discourage killings, massacres and armed groups in the Village of Miriki and its surroundings.
  • Security around Mirki is volatile; this January, 18 people were killed by the FDLR.
3. 15 Killed in clash between rebel groups: Maï-Maï and FDLR

  • 7 February, Maï-Maï rebels, coming from Buleusa, attacked the village of Mukeberwa held by the FDLR.
  • 15 people were killed and 7 injured.
