On October 30, CEAP UQAM will welcome Maéva Badré (Doctoral student, University of Geneva) to their latest Conference Scientifique scolaire, where Badré will offer a talk on “Sciences, sexes, identities: a scientific and educational program to promote sexual health and gender equality” (Sciences, sexes, identités : un programme scientifique et pédagogique pour la promotion de la santé sexuelle et de l'égalité de genre). The session is being offered in partnership with l’Équipe de recherche en éducation scientifique et technologique (EREST).
Myths, misconceptions and taboos affect everyone's sexual health. The mission of the Sciences, Sexes, Identities (SSI) program of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva and the University Hospitals of Geneva is to promote sexual health and gender equality, particularly among young people. Together with its network of institutional and associative partners, SSI's interdisciplinary scientific team develops inclusive, egalitarian and gender-positive research projects, training courses and teaching tools for education and health professionals, as well as the general public.
The aim of this conference is to present three of these tools, which together contribute to an environment conducive to the promotion of sexual health:
- A scientific and educational workshop for secondary school students on the development of biological sex.
- An online training course, Biology & Sexuality, aimed at secondary school teachers and adults responsible for young people's sexuality issues.
- A fundamental research project to generate new knowledge about the clitoris, which will contribute to the development and updating of educational tools on the genitalia.
