Working in the field of education in Quebec the focus of latest EmpowerGrad workshop

January 29, 2024, the CSLP hosted the latest in the EmpowerGrad workshop series, with Sophie Hart (MA, Educational Studies) presenting Demystifying the Field of Education in Quebec.

The workshop provided information on key areas which aspiring educators, and those in the field of education will need to know. This included professional requirements, professional development opportunities, job-seeking strategies, etc. 

Hart has graciously shared her PowerPoint presentation with us.

Sophie is a student in the Master of Educational Studies program at Concordia with a focus on Adult Education. She has experience working in Nunavik as an elementary school teacher. Sophie has participated in and lead informal online learning for the last few years. Sophie’s pedagogy focuses on empowering students, honouring individual and cultural knowledge, and promoting connection through community.

Le 29 janvier 2024, le CEAP a accueilli le dernier atelier de la série EmpowerGrad, avec Sophie Hart (MA, études pédagogiques) qui a présenté Démystifier le domaine de l'éducation au Québec (Demystifying the Field of Education in Quebec).

L'atelier a fourni des informations sur les domaines clés que les aspirants éducateur.rice.s et les personnes travaillant dans le domaine de l'éducation doivent connaître. Cela inclut les exigences professionnelles, les opportunités de développement professionnel, les stratégies de recherche d'emploi, etc.

Sophie est étudiante à la maîtrise en sciences de l'éducation à Concordia, avec une spécialisation en éducation des adultes. Elle a travaillé au Nunavik en tant qu'enseignante à l'école primaire. Au cours des dernières années, Sophie a participé à l'apprentissage informel en ligne et l'a dirigé. La pédagogie de Sophie met l'accent sur l'autonomisation des étudiant.e.s, la reconnaissance des connaissances individuelles et culturelles, et la promotion des liens au sein de la communauté.
