EmpowerGrad Workshops Kick off with Session on Quebec Education

The Quebec education system is a flexible cornerstone of our society that prepares people to be successful throughout their lives, evolving to accommodate the needs of our changing society.  To get an overview of this system, this workshop by graduate students Robin Long and Lazaros Kalipolidis took a brief look at where the current system came from, the goals and mandate of education in Quebec today, and how the Ministry of Education took into consideration access to education, individual education pathways and the needs of specific populations in the Quebec Education Project. 

Exploring the organisational and governing structures of the system, and attendees were introduced to how all this works in personal testimonials about education experiences as students and employees of the MEQ.

One participant noted that “since we are from different parts of education, it was a great opportunity to collaborate in a space where we wouldn’t normally have had an opportunity to do so.”

Les ateliers EmpowerGrad démarrent avec une session sur l'éducation au Québec

Le système éducatif québécois est un clé de voûte flexible de notre société qui prépare les gens à réussir tout au long de leur vie, en évoluant pour répondre aux besoins de notre société en mutation.  Afin d'obtenir une vue d'ensemble de ce système, cet atelier, animé par les étudiant.es diplômé.es Robin Long et Lazaros Kalipolidis, a examiné brièvement l'origine du système actuel, les objectifs et le mandat de l'éducation au Québec aujourd'hui, et la manière dont le ministère de l'éducation a pris en considération l'accès à l'éducation, les parcours éducatifs individuels et les besoins de populations spécifiques dans le cadre du Projet éducatif du Québec. 

En explorant les structures organisationnelles et de gouvernance du système, les participant.es ont pu découvrir comment tout cela fonctionne grâce à des témoignages personnels sur les expériences éducatives vécues en tant qu'étudiant.es et employé.es du MEQ.

Un.e participant.e a fait remarquer que "comme nous venons de différents secteurs de l'éducation, c'était une excellente occasion de collaborer dans un espace où nous n'aurions normalement pas eu l'occasion de le faire".
