If you're on campus Friday and need some fresh air and a break from studying, please join us for the the 2022 City Nature Challenge and contribute to wildlife conservation!

What is it?

The City Nature Challenge is an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe. Join people in hundreds of cities across Canada and around the world in a friendly challenge to upload the most observations of wildlife using iNaturalist Canada. It’s a fun, easy, family-friendly opportunity to get outside and connect with nature by documenting local biodiversity.

The City Nature Challenge is organized for the 82 municipalities and boroughs of Greater Montreal by Technoparc Oiseaux and the Campus Biodiversity Network.

Information sessions are offered weekly on Wednesdays until April 29.

When is it?

The 2022 City Nature Challenge runs from April 29 - May 2.

Where is it?

You can participate from anywhere in Montreal!

We are particularly interested in learning what biodiversity we have on campus. So if you are on campus between Friday April 29 and and Monday May 2, take a snapshot through iNaturalist!

A group of us will meet in front of the AD building at noon on Friday April 29 to record observations on the Loyola campus.  Please feel free to join us!

How to participate?

  1. Visit iNaturalist.org
  2. Download the app from the AppStore or Google Play
  3. Sign in and share your observations by taking photos between April 29 and May 2 from wherever you are in Montreal!
  4. On May 3 - 8 the observed specied will be correctly identified by scientists, experts, and other naturalists
