For this lab walk through sub-series, 4th Space partnered with 3 current courses, led by Rebecca Duclos, Juan Ortiz Apuy, and Alice Jarry to allow their students, who are variously engaging in critical materiality, to have access to these visits with researchers live. Cecilia McKinnon, an intermedia artist and curator, is acting as our facilitator and interviewer for this series, and has gathered questions submitted by students from these courses.

Join Hossein Vatandoost and Alireza Moezi, two students working under Dr. Ramin Sedaghati, as they show us around their labs.

Hossein Vatandoost is currently working as a Horizon Postdoctoral Fellow at Concordia University, MIAE Department under supervision of Prof. Subhash Rakheja and Prof. Ramin Sedaghati. He focuses on developments in new generation of smart magneto-rheological elastomers for varied vibration control applications. His research interests include stimuli-responsive materials, nonlinear hysteresis modeling, material characterization, sensors and actuators, vibration control, and medical interventional platforms.

Alireza Moezi is a PhD candidate in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial & Aerospace Engineering under supervision of Prof. Ramin Sedaghati and Prof. Subhash Rakheja. His research interests include theoretical and experimental studies in the fields of Linear and Nonlinear Control, Robotics, Smart Materials, Mechatronics, and Optimization.

In this episode, we meet Hossein and Alireza at the Engineering and Visual Arts Building.
