In an era of escalating culture wars, universities are increasingly called upon to define their role in public life: should they take positions on pressing social issues or remain institutionally neutral?
This event brings together three leading experts on campus politics in an age of polarization: Senior Manager for PEN America’s Freedom to Learn program Amy Reid (New College of Florida), political scientist Jacob Levy (McGill University), and sociologist Amy Swiffen (Concordia University)—for an in-depth discussion on the politics of knowledge production and the responsibilities of academic institutions amid shifting expectations and intensifying public scrutiny.
Organized by Marc Lafrance, Special Advisor to the Provost on Campus Life, Provost’s Office and Lisa White, Executive Director, Equity Office.
