Join us for an interactive three-part workshop series designed for faculty, academic staff, and graduate student instructors at Concordia. In this series, participants engage in structured dialogue to cultivate key metacognitive skills, self-reflection, and self-awareness within their professional and teaching practice.

Rather than focusing on instructional techniques, this space centers on personal metacognitive growth through collaborative inquiry, deep listening, and collective reflection—inviting participants to examine their own thought processes, assumptions, and reasoning. Expect a collaborative environment focused on open inquiry and deep self-reflection. No prior background in structured dialogue is required. The series explores three interrelated themes that build directly upon one another: Power, Authority, and Rules.

Because each session builds on the last, priority registration will be given to participants who sign up for the full series. However, if you can only attend specific sessions, please register anyway—we will do our best to accommodate you!

This series was seeded by the CTL’s Contemplative Pedagogy Faculty Interest Group (CP FIG)

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the workshop series, participants should be able to:

  • Employ specific thinking tools during and after dialogue to monitor, evaluate, and refine their own reasoning and underlying assumptions.
  • Cultivate advanced metacognitive skills, including heightened self-reflection and self-awareness within their ongoing professional and teaching practices.
  • Co-create collaborative thinking spaces grounded in open inquiry, active listening, and constructive group reasoning.
