In Conversation With is an event series featuring incredible alumni with fascinating stories.

Join us in Vancouver as Concordia Fine Arts dean, Annie Gérin, sits down with Anthony Kiendl, BFA 93, for an exclusive discussion on his path to becoming the CEO and Executive Director of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Gina Cody has short darf hair and wears a dark suit jacket against a white background. Her portrait is next to a cityscape.

Anthony Kiendl joined the Vancouver Art Gallery as CEO & Executive Director in 2020.

Kiendl is currently leading a multi-phase institutional transformation of the Gallery as it constructs a new purpose-built art museum designed by Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron scheduled to open in 2028. He is an accomplished arts administrator, and award-winning curator and writer, an educator, and community builder, having directed galleries in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

Prior to the Vancouver Art Gallery, Anthony was the Executive Director & CEO of the Mackenzie Gallery in Regina, Saskatchewan, and the Artistic Director of Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art in Winnipeg, Manitoba prior to that. He also led the Visual Arts Program and Walter Phillips Gallery at the Banff Centre from 2002-2006.

Kiendl was a Leverhulme visiting research fellow at Middlesex University, London, UK in 2006.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. If you require disability-related accommodations, please contact alumnievents@concordia.ca by November 1 to allow us time to coordinate your request.
