Hosted by Filipino Organization of Concordia University Students (FOCUS) Team, in partnership with ASCEND and Concordia Alumni Engagement, we will be holding a Forum/Networking event on Friday, November 17, 2023.

Please note that advance registration is required in order to get professional lanyards. This will close on Monday, November 13th at 5PM. The lanyards will be returned back after the event.

Guest speakers

Linojan Parameswaran - Senior Account Manager, Commercial Banking

Linojan graduated in 2015 from John Molson School of Business with a bachelor’s in finance. He later obtained a Master of Business Administration degree in Global Business Strategy (MBA) from Université Laval. Linojan started his career in Consulting at a Big Four accounting firm, where he worked with several multinational companies for consulting services. In 2019, Linojan joined BDC (Business Development Bank of Canada) as a Senior Manager, Commercial Banking. As part of his role, he supports entrepreneurs with financing and consulting needs to guide them throughout their growth. He is known as a trusted advisor for his strong financial and business development skills to guide his clients to reach their goals. Over the years, Linojan has developed a relationship of trust with his clients by leveraging his skills and business network.

Trisha Chloé Baluyot - Kinesiologist \ Research and Project Coordinator

Trisha graduated in 2018 from Concordia University with a bachelor's of science, specializing in Clinical Exercise Physiology. In 2019, she obtained her license as a registered Kinesiologist and later received her Master's degree in health and physiology and applied Kinesiology in 2020. Trisha started her career by interning as a kinesiologist for rehabilitation centers such as Lethbridge Rehabilitation Centre and CHU Saint-Justine. Currently, she works as an exercise specialist for CEASO (Center of Excellence for Adolescents Living with Severe Obesity) at the Montreal Children's Hospital, where she provides education on fitness and daily physical activity and focuses on goal setting and motivational interviewing. Outside the clinic, she works as a physical literacy instructor at a local YMCA, where she teaches children the fundamentals of movement patterns, and as a Care Coordinator for Dialogue Telemedicine, where she helps manage their platform and navigation tool. Passionate about movement and health, she continuously teaches the importance of fitness and exercise, while establishing strong relationships with her clients.

Stephanie Valenzuela - Council woman for the City of Montreal

Stephanie graduated in 2014 from McGill University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Development. From a young age, she was passionate about helping the community and participated in numerous volunteering events in the CDN-NDG area. It led her to intern as a Fundraising Coordinator for the NGO, La Paz Comienza Con Los Niños - EFP Mexico (Peace Begins with Children), where she assisted in fund development and community relations activities of the organization and provided support to the leadership Team and Board of Directors. From then on, she developed her passion for community services by being a Site Coordinator for another NGO, Cote des Neiges Black Community Association, in 2019, and becoming a city councilwoman for Montreal where, along with her team in Ensemble Montreal, will bring more inclusion, innovation, and representation in the community of CDN-NDG. 

John Eric Feliciano - Clinical Director / Intervention Worker

John Eric graduated in 2006 from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Honors Anthropology. Eric worked as a Clinical Director for Face à Face Montreal, where he oversees the daily operations and activities of the center and manages a team of staff, volunteers, and interns to help the NGO’s mission to assist vulnerable and isolated individuals. He is currently working as an intervention worker for the NGO, Nazareth Community, which also emphasizes the importance of dialogue and listening to those in need of an ear. Passionate about dialogue and representation outside the office, Eric helps operate Filipinos of Montreal. In this Instagram social media group, he and his team promote Pinoy representation by showing pictures of inspiring young filipinix in the community of Montreal and talking about their life
