Series of talk by the Social Justice Graduate Fellows

Every Friday at lunchtime from April 29 to June 3, 2022, the Social Justice Centre will present Social Justice Fellows Lunchtime Seminars.

All events will be hybrid, in person at the Webster Library and online on zoom.

The graduate fellows will present their work, which will be followed by a short commentary and a discussion.  

-       April 29: Gustavo Henrique de Andrade, "Cooperatives as tools of resistance of catadores in São Paulo, Brazil" followed by a commentary by Prof. Manuel Rosaldo (Pennsylvania State University)

-       May 6: Koby Rogers Hall (rescheduled on June 3rd)

-       May 13: Balam Kenter, "A Prelude to a Philosophy of the Margin: Foucault and Marx on Disability and Animality" followed by a commentary by Jesse Arseneault (Department of English, Concordia University)

-       May 20: Lea Denieul, "Mapping Land Theft as a Mediating Tool to Strengthen Indigenous-Settler Alliances" followed by a commentary by Indigenous Cartographer, Margaret Pearce.

-       May 27: Nicholas Goberdhan, “Invisible Carers: Making the Case for Racialized Young Carers”

-       June 3: Koby Rogers Hall, "Relationships, Aesthetics, and Whatever Happens Next - A performative presentation in conversation with Mostafa Henaway"

The talks will take place in the seminar room LB-362, located in the Webster Library, J.W. McConnell Building, 1400 De Maisonneuve Blvd. W. during lunchtime (12pm to 1:30pm). except for the talks of May 20 (Geography Department) and June 3 (The Acts of Listening Lab).

We hope to provide coffee and small snacks if the Covid restrictions allow us.
