Fibres & Material Practices

my research is the collective

an investigation into possible speculative futures as a way to understand and instigate the collapse of rigid systems and a transition towards more flexible models.

magic is salt

permeating materials and language with meaning and intention, i create hybrid realities that exist at the limit between our perceived physical world and utopia.

methods of resistance

when knowledge cannot keep us safe, let us seek gestures that facilitate connections both to others, to place and to being present. let us sleep, let us rest, labor makes no sense when building our own identities.

navigating blurred lines

constantly processing. time is fluid. fermenting collaborations through exchange, care and contamination. folding futures. mending the cellular. kneading as transmutation.

my research is the escape

annik st-arnaud is an artist based in tiohtiĆ”:ke / mooniyang / montreal. their transdisciplinary practice lies at the intersection of textile processes, biodesign and culinary arts. from a speculative perspective, they explore our capacity for transition, collective organisation and our potential to create flexible and sustainable systems. focusing on natural materials; some grown or foraged, they make hybrid materialities that centers around slowness, care and resistance. current projects explore microscopy, immersive technologies, food activation, cooking, fermentation and writing.
