This free workshop for participants aged 10 and up demystified the laboratory sciences by working directly with microbes from everyday, store-bought comestibles such as yogurt and kombucha.
Participants learned basic lab techniques with petri dishes which made visible what we cannot ordinarily see! In this hands-on workshop, participants isolated microbes onto petri plates and incubated their samples. Students also got a tour of Concordia's Speculative Life Lab Exhibition and discovered even more ways science is being used to visualize the unseen.
Students saw the results of their experiments from the workshop displayed during the Sci/Art Exhibition May 18th from 5-8 pm and received a brief tutorial on how to continue kitchen experimentation at home.
