Internal degree transfer

Students who wish to change degree types to enter a program in Psychology or Neuroscience do so through this process. For further information, sign up for an upcoming information session. (On zoom or in person at Loyola RF 110.)

Eligibility information

You are a current Concordia student wishing to transfer degrees to enter a program in Psychology or Neuroscience. Examples: BSc, BComm, or BEd to BA Psychology; or BA, BAF, or BEng to BSc in Neuroscience.

If on the other hand you are a BA or BSc student who does NOT wish to transfer your degree, but just add or switch to the Major in Psychology or the Specialization in Neuroscience, please see the Change of concentration process instead.

Internal degree transfers are considered for the Fall and the Winter terms only. The deadline to apply for the internal degree transfer is March 1 for Fall transfers and November 1 for Winter.

Academic requirements

  1. Complete a minimum of 12 credits at Concordia University.
  2. Achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.00 (B).
  3. Students wishing to transfer to the BSc in Psychology or Neuroscience MUST have completed or be exempted from at least 50% of the pre-science profile with at least one course from each discipline.
  4. Completion of Introductory Psychology (PSYC 200) is suggested for entering the Psychology program, unless you have an exemption or transfer credits (TRC) for the course. PSYC 200 is not recommended for Neuroscience.
  5. Admission to the Honours program is only possible after completing the first year of the Psychology or Neuroscience program.
  6. Refer to section 31.250 of the undergraduate calendar to review the program requirements & course descriptions before applying.

Note: Due to HIGH DEMAND, COMPETITION and LIMITED SPACE, the Department of Psychology cannot guarantee that all qualified applicants meeting the minimum criteria will be admitted. ADMISSION IS NOT GUARANTEED OR AUTOMATIC. We strongly recommend that you access career counselling at CAPS to discuss your interests and perhaps do some testing to discover a variety of career options if your GPA is below, or marginally above the minimum.

Transferable courses

All the credits from your current program will transfer to the new program, if admitted.
