CUCCR
Fine Arts Satellites

Expanding creative reuse across Concordia’s campuses

Overview

The Concordia University Centre for Creative Reuse (CUCCR) operates Fine Arts Satellites that make free, second-hand materials easily accessible within the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (EV) and Visual Arts (VA) Building.

Developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine Arts, these sites support CUCCR’s mission to divert materials from Concordia’s waste stream and make them available for creative work across the university community.

What the satellite spaces offer

The CUCCR Fine Arts Satellites are desiginated sites that provide Concordia students, faculty and staff with free, repurposed materials for artistic and academic projects.

Each site features a rotating selection of supplies, such as:

  • Wood and off-cuts
  • Fabric and textiles
  • Paper and cardboard
  • Hardware and assorted materials
  • Basic tools and occasional workspace access

By giving new life to surplus materials, the satellites promote sustainability, thoughtful use of material and hands-on experimentation in the arts.

How it works

All materials at the satellite spaces are available at no cost.

Users are asked to:

  1. Select the materials they need
  2. Weigh and check out the items on-site
  3. Bring materials to their classrooms, studios or personal projects

Weighing materials helps CUCCR track usage and measure waste diversion, supporting the university’s sustainability goals.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome at the EV 8.455 suggestion board or at the Core Technical Centre info desk on the eighth floor of the EV Building.
