Productivity Suite - Students
Active Concordia students have access to Microsoft 365 Education, a collection of services that allows you to collaborate and share your schoolwork.
The services are available for free and include an email address, the standard suite of office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), 1 TB individual file storage (OneDrive), Intranet (SharePoint), collaboration tools (MS Teams) and more.
The subscription also allows students to install desktop applications on up to 5 computers and 5 mobile devices free of charge

How to get it
The first step to enrolling for Microsoft 365 Education is to obtain your Concordia email account.
First, activate your student email account. Once your email account has been successfully activated, you can access the Microsoft online portal using the following login credentials:
- Enter firstname.lastname@example.org on the main login page.
- You will be redirected to the Concordia-specific login screen
- Enter your netname and password (same as the Student Hub) to log in.
Note: The email account can be activated from the link above or by logging in to the Student Hub with your netname and going to My CU Account > Personal information & accounts > Activate Office 365 email. The email account will be ready by the beginning of the next business day. Your email address will follow the standard format: email@example.com
To access your Concordia email address, login to Outlook with firstname.lastname@example.org, and when redirected to the Concordia-specific login screen enter your netname and password to log in.

If you want to configure a different email client, you can retrieve the necessary settings from the Outlook Web interface, selecting Settings > View all Outlook settings > Mail > Sync email > POP and IMAP. This page is maintained by Microsoft. Concordia University is not responsible for updating this page.

Log in to the Student Hub with your netname and go to My CU Account > Personal information & accounts > Activate Office 365 email. Click the available button to activate your Microsoft 365 email account. Your account will be accessible in two (2) business days.
You will be able to activate your email account at the start of the term for which you are registered. It is best to wait until after the first day of classes to activate your account.
All students have access to the same set of Microsoft 365 apps which includes online versions of the office suite and a set of additional apps used for collaborating and file sharing.
To get a complete and up to date list of the apps available, please log into the Microsoft online portal.
If you have already activated the @live.concordia.ca email account, you may choose to activate the new email@example.com email alias.
Click here to activate the alias, or log in to the Student Hub with your netname and go to My CU Account > Personal information & accounts > Activate Office 365 email. Then click the Request to Activate Office365 Email Box button.
Your alias will be created within the next business day. You will continue to have access to your emails while the activation request is processed.

If you have forgotten your username or password, please visit the password reset page.
On this page, enter your username (either your student ID or Netname). Also, please indicate your personal email address or the email address you used during the application process.
If it's been 2 business days since you've activated your account and you have followed the above instructions, but are still unable to login, contact the Service Desk with the following information:
- Your netname.
- When you’ve activated your account.
- If you are a currently registered student or when you’ve last attended courses at Concordia.
- Any error messages you have received.
- If you’ve ever been able to access the account.
Note: If you are logged into any other Microsoft services (live.com, Hotmail, MSN, etc.), you will be unable to login to your Microsoft 365 account at the same time. Ensure you have logged out of these services before attempting to access your Microsoft 365 email account.
The applications included in the desktop version of Microsoft 365 vary depending on your device’s operating system. On a PC computer, the suite includes the latest versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Lync and InfoPath. On a Mac computer, the latest versions of Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word are included.

Microsoft (MS) Teams is a collaboration app that integrates a number of tools from Microsoft. MS Teams can be used for video meetings, persistent chats, file collaboration, project coordination and video streaming. Faculty and staff can create their own Teams and invite colleagues to join them to collaborate with them.
We encourage students to learn more about using Microsoft Teams through this quick start guide or by watching Microsoft orientation videos.
Certain words in Teams names have been restricted to avoid confusion. If you think you have a legitimate need for one of these restricted words, please contact the IITS Service Desk to submit a request.
