As web browsers move away from supporting plug-ins, technologies like Oracle Forms need new ways to run the applications they've developed. Beginning with version 188.8.131.52.0, Oracle Forms introduced an alternative.
The Forms Standalone Launcher (FSAL) is a browserless, modern, client interface. Since it doesn't rely on a browser, FSAL also doesn't rely on Java Deployment technologies (e.g. Plug-in, Web Start, etc) and will be sustainable long term.
Concordia has embraced this new technology and has deployed the FSAL (browserless) solution to the computers of regular Banner users. Banner users will notice a new shortcut on their desktops called 'Banner'. To access Banner production, open the new desktop shortcut and select Banner_BEER.
If the Banner shortcut doesn’t automatically appear on your desktop, contact the Service Desk to place your request.
