Ongoing roadwork on Ste. Catherine Street West enters new phase near Concordia
Pedestrian access to Sir George Williams Campus buildings will be maintained throughout the construction

The City of Montreal’s ongoing Ste. Catherine Street West infrastructure renewal project is entering a new phase. Work near the Sir George Williams Campus started the week of August 11 and is expected to run until mid-November.
The construction work will then take a seasonal pause and restart in January 2026.
Impacts on vehicular traffic
- Ste. Catherine Street West
- Closed completely between Peel and De la Montagne streets
- Closed completely between Mackay and Pierce streets
- Local traffic only between St. Mathieu and Pierce streets
- Guy Street
- One northbound lane open between René-Lévesque and De Maisonneuve boulevards
- All southbound lanes closed
- Drummond and Stanley streets
- Closures at intersections with Ste. Catherine Street West within the work zones
- Two-way local traffic permitted
- Pierce Street
- Open to local traffic only
What to expect
- Pedestrian access to Concordia buildings will be maintained at all times, with signage indicating detours.
- Access to the Faubourg (FB) Building parking garage remains available.
- Public transit will continue to operate, though some bus stops and schedules will be adjusted.
- Noise, dust and vibrations are expected due to excavation and resurfacing work.
- Temporary water service interruptions may occur, with at least 48 hours’ advance notice from the City of Montreal.
