Concordia and CUPFA sign new collective agreement effective until April 30, 2026

On May 30, 2025, representatives of the Concordia University Part-Time Faculty Association (CUPFA) and the university met to officially sign a new collective agreement, effective until April 30, 2026.
The parties had previously reached an agreement and signed a memorandum of agreement on February 6, 2025.
Negotiations focused on solutions and grounded in respect
“I am privileged to have been a part of our exceptionally competent and hard-working CUPFA negotiation team and I am grateful for the contribution of our members during the consultation process,” said Robert Soroka, president of CUPFA.
"I am very appreciative of the University’s bargaining team for their professionalism, collegiality, and respect throughout this critical process. The dedication and commitment to constructive dialogue from both sides have led to meaningful improvements in our members’ working conditions," he added.
On the university’s side, negotiations were led by Kristina Huneault, Vice-Provost, Faculty Development and Inclusion. She echoed the positive tone of the process and commended both parties for engaging in respectful, solution-focused dialogues.
“In this negotiation process we made important strides towards refining the norms that govern the availability of work for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and external experts, as well as clarifying procedures for filling classes in case of emergency,” said Huneault.
“I look forward to seeing how the decisions we’ve made will continue to strengthen the university as a whole — including in the education we provide to our students and in the relationship between CUPFA and Concordia.”
