This year, Concordia is observing a holiday schedule from Thursday, December 24, 2020, until Sunday, January 10, 2021, inclusively. During this time, libraries and many other on-campus facilities will be closed to most community members.

Reoccurring access list frozen between December 11 and January 11

One exception to these closures will be for faculty, staff and graduate students who are on the recurring access list as of December 11, 2020. They can continue to work in the offices, labs and studios they already have access to. However, additions to the list beginning December 11 will have to wait until January 11.

Remember to bring ID

Those on the access list who plan to enter a building during the break should be mindful not to forget their IDs. They will still need to check in at a Concordia Security desk to gain access to spaces. They will also need to plan ahead as some access points and spaces will be closed during the break — including certain washrooms and kitchenettes. Facilities will still be available but may require people going to a different location than usual.

Libraries

Concordia’s Webster and Vanier libraries will be closed from December 24 until January 10. This includes individual study spaces that can currently be booked by students. On December 23, the final day of the exam period, the libraries will close at 5 p.m.

Libraries will reopen to the community on January 11. Check the Concordia Library website for details.

Birks Student Service Centre

The Birks Student Service Centre will pause from December 24 until January 4. Staff will resume answering emails and fulfilling letter and unofficial transcript requests at a reduced capacity upon their return. Certain delays to requests and emails are to be expected.

New ID cards

Students who need a Concordia ID card will be able to book an appointment to have one made Monday through Friday starting on January 11. To do so, they must go to MyConcordia and select “Student Services” then “ID Card Appointment Booking.”

Please respect appointment times and note that the service closes from noon until 1 p.m. and wraps for the day at 4:30 p.m. After January 22, ID cards appointments will still be available but on a reduced schedule.

Campus stores

The Book Stop has been operating online since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Between December 24 and January 4, please allow for a longer response time to inquiries. Please also note that pick-up services will resume as of January 11, by appointment only.

The Art Store will be closed from December 24 to January 10, inclusively. On January 11, it will re-open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — one hour more per day than currently.

On December 23, the Print Store will close a bit earlier than normal, at 5 p.m. It will resume service on January 11 at 9 a.m.

IT Service Desk

The IITS Service Desk will maintain extended hours of remote service until the end of the exam period: weekdays from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The service will then pause from December 24 until January 7.

From January 8 to 10, inclusively, service agents will respond to calls and emails on a weekend schedule, then back to the extended period as of January 11.

Please note: Cybersecurity threats targeting members of the Concordia community are on the rise. During the holidays, please be particularly vigilant to potential phishing attempts. Learn more about how you can protect your data and those of the university.

Food services

Cafeterias and cafés will remain closed, as they have been since the beginning of the pandemic. The refilling of vending machines could also be delayed until the end of the holiday period.

Athletic facilities

Campus athletic facilities — including the PERFORM Centre — continue to be closed.

Getting around

Shuttle bus service and the Sir George Williams Campus tunnels remain closed until further notice, in connection to campus access restrictions.

Parking

The J.W. McConnell (LB) Building parking garage will be closed from December 24 until January 3, inclusively. The Faubourg (FB) Building parking garage remains closed until fall 2021 due to renovations.

Loyola Campus parking lots remain open to the public with regular operating hours.

Wellness services

All campus wellness services will be closed from December 24 to January 10, inclusively. This includes:

  • The Access Centre for Students with Disabilities (ACSD)
  • Counselling and Psychological Services (CPS)
  • Health Services
