The Brucebo Residency will resume in September 2026 and will now be administered by Art Volt. The program is now reserved for recent alumni of Concordia University’s Faculty of Fine Arts.

The Brucebo Residency in Gotland, Sweden

Presented in collaboration with the Brucebo Foundation, this one-month residency supports emerging visual artists in the development of their research-creation practices within a distinctive cultural and natural setting.

Up to two artists will be selected to participate in a residency beginning September 1, 2026, with the possibility of extending their stay until October 11, 2026.

Located in Själsö, approximately 7 km north of Visby on the island of Gotland, Sweden, the residency takes place in a studio cottage with shared common spaces and two private bedrooms. The setting offers a quiet and immersive environment conducive to focused artistic research and creation.

Each selected resident will receive an honorarium of $5,000 to support travel and living expenses.

As part of the residency tradition, participating artists are asked to donate a work created during their stay to the Canadian Collection at the Brucebo Museum.
