Students from the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science’s Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Aerospace Engineering have achieved notable success at the recent Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) National Conference held January 18 to 21, 2024.

The university secured second place in both the Simulation and Case Competition and the non-academic e-games event, along with third place for participation and spirit at the conference.

The IISE National Conference, hosted this year by Polytechnique Montréal, is an annual event that unites professionals, educators, and students in the fields of industrial and systems engineering. It includes a range of academic and non-academic activities, such as competitions, workshops, and networking events.

At the conference, IISE Concordia Chapter, comprised of 24 industrial engineering students, demonstrated skill and teamwork across various competitions.

In the Simulation Competition, where participants use simulation software to address complex problems, the team of Matthew Derocher, Paolo Chiriatti, and Mert Kaan Kaseler secured second place.

In the Case Competition, the team with Jessica Lorusso, Joanie Robichaud, Sarah Tabortowski and Gabrielle Gallant also earned second place with their strategic and analytical approach.

In addition, Concordia's e-games team, which included Éléna Gagnon, Stephen Tomasin, Sarah Tabortowski and Anthony Montanaro, performed well in the eSports competitions, achieving second place.

The university's delegation was also recognized for their engagement and collaborative spirit, winning third place for the spirit of the conference.
