AJ Cordeiro, Media Instructor in the Department of Journalism, is the recipient of the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Service to the Faculty by a Staff Member.

This award recognizes a record of service within the Faculty characterized by leadership, commitment, resourcefulness, and the fostering of an environment of respect and inclusion that is conducive to the University’s mission of research and learning.

Cordeiro has supported our department endlessly for nearly a decade, through orchestrating a live student-lead election night broadcast, developing digital resources for our students and faculty during the pandemic, supporting our radio, TV, video and photo courses, supporting the department's research initiatives such as the Institute for Inclusive, Investigative and Innovative Journalism, and creating a welcoming environment for students in the department’s newsroom centre.

Cordeiro graduated from the Department of Journalism in 2014. He worked as a teaching assistant before he was hired to his current role in September that same year. He quickly became the department’s go-to person for audio, video, photo and digital tools.

The department thanks Cordeiro for his consistent and outstanding contributions, which have helped shape every journalist in our programs.
