Practical approaches of integrating Rotinonhsión:ni perspectives in sustainability and land-based learning opportunities

This workshop will introduce four Moodle modules that explore the Rotinonhsión:ni Confederacy from an historical and contemporary context. Drawing on the experiences of faculty, we will discuss and reflect on pedagogical strategies to embed sustainability and land-based opportunities in course design through engaging with Rotinonhnsión:ni epistemologies. Topics found in the modules that are available to active Concordia faculty, staff, and students, include but are not limited to: Cosmology and Epistemology of the Rotinonhsión:ni; resistance to colonial policies and practices; food systems; treaties; residential and boarding schools; language resurgence and decolonizing methodologies. 

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Explore the online Primer Modules in Moodle as a digital resource tool to integrate Indigenous content into course design.
• Examine diverse ways of how faculty can design course content and assessment strategies drawing from the Primer Modules.
• Identify ways to integrate sustainability and land-based learning opportunities in their own pedagogical practices and course design
