Holding Sociopolitical Grief is a 2-hour, arts-based, trauma-informed workshop that offers participants a reflective, collective space to explore grief shaped by social, political, and historical forces. Through gentle guided practices- including crafting methods- participants engage grief beyond words, recognizing how loss is shaped by power, inequality, and lived experience. Grounded in EDI and decolonial principles, the workshop centers consent, choice, and relational care, making it accessible to diverse participants while avoiding pressure for personal disclosure. Designed for instructors in higher education, it provides a rare opportunity to name, witness, and hold difficult realities together without rushing toward solutions or closure. Discussions will also centre classroom applications.
Audience: Concordia faculty, staff, teaching assistants
