Join Guillaume Lamontagne, chief architect for satellite systems at MDA Space, for an in-person presentation on the rapid expansion of the commercial space sector. Discover how advances in launch capabilities, satellite technologies and new applications are driving this growth.
The talk will explore what space offers today and Canada’s role in this increasingly competitive industry. Topics include:
Communications satellites in geostationary orbit
Software-defined satellites in low Earth orbit
Broadband connectivity and direct-to-device services
Global navigation satellite systems
Emerging data centres in orbit
Presented by the Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design and Innovation, in collaboration with the Mark Pathy Space Institute at the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science.
Guillaume Lamontagne has worked in the space industry for more than 18 years, first as an undergraduate at École de technologie supérieure in Montreal, working for the Canadian Space Agency, and later as a postgraduate at the French Space Agency.
He joined MDA Space in 2009 as a systems engineer and was later appointed lead systems engineer on numerous payload programs and proposals, directing design activities and negotiations with customers and suppliers.
He has also led complex low Earth orbit constellation proposals and served as director of technology strategy. As chief architect for satellite systems, he currently oversees solution offerings across digital communications and Earth observation in the era of mega-constellations.
