Join Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science alumni and friends to hear how they have developed rewarding, meaningful and purpose-driven careers. We'll discuss what it means to build an engineering career with purpose and how communication and self-awareness skills play a vital role in this process.

Find out how they got to where they are today, the experiences, relationships and decisions that shaped their careers, what their work looks like day to day and the skills and tools that helped them get there.

Together, we will consider how you can:

  • connect your engineering skills and interests with opportunities that matter to you
  • use your first job to learn about your strengths, interests and the kind of work you want to pursue
  • leverage networking, mentorship and relationships to build your career
  • find opportunities to create impact beyond your job title
  • make career decisions when you don't have the full picture of where you want to go
  • make career decisions with both purpose and practicality in mind

Panelists:

  • Gurleen Kaur, M.Eng Quality Systems Engineering
  • Ann-Louise Howard, consultant, founder, Her Work in Engineering, B.Eng Mechanical, Phd. Muli-Interdisciplinary (Management, Applied Human Sciences and Psychology)
  • Sam Tock, director of engineering, City of Kirkland, B.Eng Civil Engineering
  • Shahrzad Norouzi, R&D systems associate manager, Boston Scientific, Master’s of Applied Sciences, Mechanical Engineering

Moderated by Sonia Di Maulo, founder, Take the Leap! part-time faculty (Gina Cody School, Applied Human Sciences and Education)

There will be a Q&A period and a 30-minute open networking session following the panel discussion.

Please arrive 15 minutes before event time to allow time to sign in.

This event is a collaboration between the Co-op, Experiential Learning and Career Centre, Take the Leap! and the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science’s Centre for Engineering in Society.
