Being a first-year student in normal times can be challenging, now add studying remotely, in the midst of a pandemic to the mix! This year especially it will be so important to build meaningful connections and get support from others along the way – especially since we’re not physically on campus together. So, our First-year Support Counsellor will be hosting 5 online group check-ins for first-year students throughout the Fall Semester. These sessions will be an opportunity to connect and find support from each other and the first-year counsellor, and to exchange ideas, experiences, and tips relating to common challenges you may be facing - all in a safe, informal and relaxed environment.
Some of the topics we’ll talk about include:
Dealing with uncertainty and lack of control
Focusing on school when everything is online (Zoom fatigue is real!)
Overcoming isolation and staying connected
Managing stress around exams
Building healthy habits to foster well-being and resilience
You can join just one or a couple of sessions, or attend all five. It’s up to you!
Open to all new undergraduate, independent or transfer students.
Registration is required.
The session takes place via Zoom.
