Vanessa Nakate, a young Ugandan environmental activist, is making waves in the news, especially in the environmental community. She gained a lot of international attention when a major news outlet recently cropped her out of a photo picturing her and other young climate activists, including Greta Thunberg. She used this incident to call attention to racism and discrimination within the environmental movement and called for more awareness about how climate change impacts minority populations.
This conference will discuss the intersectionality of environmental sustainability, including the economic and social impacts that climate change has on communities, especially those most vulnerable to its impacts.
