This talk will engage participants on the intersection between the need to discuss copyrighted works and the imperatives of law. For example, how can one present contemporary art on social media? Similarly, what of remix? These and other examples will provide for foundational knowledge on this most important topic. Olivier Charbonneau holds a doctoral degree in copyright law and has researched this topic for over 15 years as a librarian at Concordia University.

Please join Olivier Charbonneau, Concordia University Librarian, at the VCR for his talk on “Art and Copyright.” Thursday November 14th, 2019. EV 3.703

Here are some points he will discuss, as well as be on hand to answer questions:

  • How to present contemporary art on social media?
  • What are the guidelines for interpreting someone else’s art work?
  • What is remix?
